Aros: Kortlikse oorsig

Aros se kampus is in Montanapark, Pretoria, geleë. Hier geniet ongeveer 3 300 studente ʼn unieke studentelewe.

Hierdie platform staan as e-Klas bekend.

Aros: Brief overview

Academy Reformational Training and Studies (Aros) is a private Christian higher education institution that trains vocation-driven students to enter the teaching profession with expertise. Education in South Africa is a dynamic field that faces many challenges, including a shortage of teachers. Aros aims to equip students to make a difference in the education landscape.

The Aros campus is located in Montana Park, Pretoria. Here, approximately 3 300 students enjoy a unique student life.

Aros uses a highly accessible distance-learning model across all curricula via an e-learning platform. This platform is known as e-Class. Lectures are pre-recorded, and the lecture material is uploaded online during the week the lecture is scheduled. Students are further supported through interactive online sessions. Recent years have shown that Aros students develop into independent students during their studies who function very well in the educational environment.

All Aros curricula are grounded in the latest thinking and reflection on teacher education in South Africa. In this respect, Aros therefore has a new and contemporary programme.

The uniqueness of Aros' programme lies in its commitment to:

  • Christian science practice: Teacher education is grounded in a biblical mandate and meaning. Education is a gift from the hand of Christ, and this premise underpins a values-driven training programme.
  • Professional training: Everything taught must be applied to the classroom situation in teaching practice. Students are expected to complete a structured probationary period during their practical teaching in a specific grade class from the third quarter of the first year.
  • Innovation and quality: As a private tertiary education institution, Aros continuously strives to offer innovative teacher training and to maintain and develop high academic standards.
  • Vocation-driven students: Students are guided to experience and accept the teaching profession first and foremost as a calling from the Lord. When teaching is seen as a calling, it gives the teaching profession meaning and significance. South Africa needs well-trained and well-motivated Christian teachers. In this way, faith, hope, and love can be passed on to the next generation, benefiting the country. Aros alumni have vocational training and live out their Christian values in the classroom. They are in high demand in private and public schools, as well as in a variety of other educational institutions.
