Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente
- die volgende konsepte van elementêre wiskunde kan begryp en toepas: afronding van getalle; herleiding van metingseenhede; optelling, aftrekking, vermenigvuldiging en deling van heelgetalle; oppervlak en omtrek van tweedimensionele vorms; totale buiteoppervlak en volume van vaste liggame; en basiese begrip van breuke, verhoudings, persentasie en getalpatrone;
- die waarde kan begryp van Polya se probleemoplossingsmodel vir probleemoplossing;
- die vermoë kan demonstreer om voorstellings en metodes korrek te selekteer en toe te pas tydens die oplossing van probleme binne of buite konteks; en
- elementêre wiskunde in Gods-, mens- en omgewingsbeskouing kan interpreteer en deurgaans oor die reformatoriese beskouing ten opsigte van wiskunde reflekteer.

After completing this module, students should be able to
- understand and apply the following concepts of elementary mathematics: rounding off numbers; conversion of measurement units; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers; area and circumference of two-dimensional shapes; total surface area and volume of solids; and a basic understanding of fractions, ratios, percentage, and number patterns;
- understand the value of Polya’s problem-solving model;
- demonstrate the ability to select and apply presentations and methods correctly in or out of context during problem-solving; and
- interpret elementary mathematics in view of God, humanity and the environment and reflect throughout on the reformational view regarding mathematics.
