Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente

  • ‘n geïntegreerde kennis toon van die sentrale areas; en oor ‘n gespesialiseerde begrip beskik van die sleutelterme, konsepte, feite, beginsels, reëls en teorieë van ekologie en evolusie en hierdie kennis kan toepas, evalueer en weergee in assessering tydens kontaksessies, semestertoetse en die eksamen;
  • ‘n reeks ondersoekmetodes kan toepas tydens ekologiepraktikums, ‘n reeks van metodes aanwend om probleme met betrekking tot hierdie velde op te los en hierdie kennis skriftelik en mondelings tydens assessering van die praktikums kan weergee;
  • geskikte prosesse kan ontwikkel om inligting te versamel van ekologie en evolusie; oor die vermoë beskik om inligtingsbronne onafhanklik te bekragtig en die inligting daarin te evalueer en bestuur; en hul eie idees en opinies ontwikkel en in goed geformuleerde argumente kommunikeer d.m.v. geskikte akademiese besprekings en verslae;
  • die vermoë toon om prosesse binne onbekende en varieerbare kontekste te bestuur en in te sien dat probleemoplossing konteks- en sisteemgebaseer is en nie in isolasie voorkom nie; en
  • die vermoë toon om hul eie leerbehoeftes op ‘n selfgerigte wyse te identifiseer, te evalueer en aan te spreek; gesamentlike leerprosesse kan fasiliteer; eties en professioneel kan optree deur omgewingsbewaring te evalueer en te motiveer as deel van die respek wat ons vir God se skepping betoon, in gehoorsaamheid aan sy opdrag aan die mens in Genesis 1, en medestudente kan begelei om soortgelyk op te tree.

 

After completing this module, students should be able to 

  • show an integrated knowledge of the central areas; and have specialised knowledge of key terms, concepts, facts, principles, rules, and theories of ecology and evolution and apply, evaluate and reproduce this knowledge in assessment during contact sessions, semester tests, and exams;
  • apply a range of methods during ecology practical classes, employ them in order to solve problems regarding these areas and reproduce this knowledge in writing and orally during practical classes’ assessment opportunities;
  • develop suitable processes to gather information regarding ecology and evolution; have the ability to substantiate the information sources independently and evaluate and manage their information; and develop their own ideas and opinions and communicate them in well-formulated arguments by means of suitable academic discussions and reports;
  • show the ability to manage processes in unknown and variable contexts and realise that problem-solving is context- and systems-based and does not occur in isolation; and
  • have the ability to identify, evaluate and address their own learning needs in a self-directed manner; facilitate mutual learning processes; act ethically and professionally by evaluating and motivating environmental conservation as part of the respect that we show for God’s creation in obedience to the command to humankind in Genesis 1; and guide fellow students to do the same.
