Ná die voltooiing van hierdie modules sal studente

  • ‘n duidelike begrip toon van die omvang van lewe, lewende dinge en die biosfeer as konsep en fundamentele insig kry in die kernareas en sleutelbegrippe, konsepte en feite sowel as die algemene beginsels, reëls en teorieë rakende fotosintese, sellulêre respirasie, die struktuur en funksies van selle en verskeie stelsels in die menslike liggaam, die Aarde se plek in die sonnestelsel en die vorming van sterre, die ontginning van minerale hulpbronne en die rehabilitasie hiervan, tesame met die vermoë om hierdie kennis in assessering tydens kontaksessies, semestertoetse en die eksamen te kan weergee;
  • die vermoë toon om inligting uit 'n verskeidenheid bronne te versamel en geskikte inligting te kies ten einde insig te verkry in die waarde van 'n gesonde dieet vir die funksionering van stelsels in die menslike liggaam, asook die effek van aardverwarming op die ekosisteem; hierdie inligting kan analiseer, sintetiseer en evalueer en dit akkuraat en samehangend in terugvoer tydens kontaksessies en in die vorm van 'n skriftelike verslag kan kommunikeer;·        
  • die vermoë toon om hul eie en ander se prestasies te evalueer en toepaslike stappe te doen waar dit sou nodig blyk; verantwoordelikheid vir hul eie leer in 'n gestruktureerde leerproses neem en die leer van ander bevorder; en·        
  • insig kry in die feit dat natuurwetenskappe fundamenteel tot die studie van God se skepping is; begrip toon vir 'n mens se verantwoordelikheid teenoor die skepping en dit in skriftelike en mondelinge konvensies tydens kontaksessies en gedurende die voltooiing van opdragte en leeraktiwiteite kommunikeer.

 

 

 

At the end of this module, students should be able to

  • show a clear understanding of the extent of life and living and the concept of the biosphere and gain a fundamental understanding of the core areas, key terms, concepts, facts and general principles, rules and theories concerning photosynthesis, cellular respiration, the structure and functions of cells and various systems in the human body, the Earth’s place in the solar system and the formation of stars, the mining of mineral resources, and the rehabilitation thereof and is able to convey this knowledge in assessment during contact sessions, semester tests, and an exam;
  • show the ability to collect information from a variety of sources and select suitable information in order to gain insight into the value of a healthy diet for the functioning of systems in the human body as well as the effect of global warming on the ecosystem; analyse, synthesise and evaluate this information and communicate it accurately and coherently in feedback given during contact sessions and in the form of a written report;
  • show the ability to evaluate their own and other’s achievements and take suitable action, where necessary; take responsibility for their own learning in a structured learning process and promote the learning of others; and
  • gain insight into the fact that natural sciences are fundamentally the study of God’s creation; show understanding of one’s responsibility towards creation and communicate it in written and oral conventions during contact sessions and in completing assignments and learning activities.
