Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente

  • oor geïntegreerde kennis en begrip beskik in terme van die skep van ʼn leeromgewing wat onderrig en leer in Wiskunde, aktiewe leer, lesaanbieding, assessering, ontwikkeling van probleemoplossingsvaardighede, groot groepaanbiedings en samewerkende kleingroepe bevorder; kennis kan demonstreer rakende die bevordering van onafhanklike studie in Wiskunde, wat die vermoë ingesluit om spesifieke konsepte en beginsels in die praktyk toe te pas, en verstaan hoe hierdie kennis verwant is aan ander aspekte van Wiskunde-onderrig se metodiek;
  • oor die vermoë beskik om ʼn verskeidenheid ondersoekmetodes te selekteer, hul gepastheid te evalueer en hulle in ondersoeke van die konsepte en beginsels, wat in hierdie module behandel is, toe te pas; en tersaaklike probleme kan oplos wat verbeterings in onderrig sal meebring;
  • oor die vermoë beskik om doeltreffend as individu of as deel van ʼn groep komplekse probleme te identifiseer, te ontleed, te evalueer en krities daaroor te besin; en hierdie probleem kan aanspreek deur gepaste metodes en/of teoriegebaseerde en opvoedkundige argumente aan te wend;
  • vaardighede bemeester rakende die versameling, verwerking en bestuur van tersaaklike inligting vir hierdie module, insluitende die vermoë om die inligtingsbronne te staaf, die inligting te ontleed, te evalueer, te sintetiseer en die resultate in ʼn gegewe konteks toe te pas;
  • oor die vermoë beskik om die resultate van werkopdragte of inligtingsoektogte en voorgestelde oplossings vir ware lewensprobleme te kommunikeer; en gevolgtrekkings kan maak, asook eie menings in goed geformuleerde argumente kan lug, met inagneming van die konvensies van intellektuele eiendom, kopiereg en plagiaat; en
  • oor die ingesteldheid en vermoë beskik om volle verantwoordelikheid te aanvaar vir eie leerbehoeftes, vordering van eie leer, besluitneming en die implementering van tersaaklike leerstrategieë en hulpbronne om die uitkomstes van hierdie module te bereik; en ʼn soortgelyke verantwoordelikheid kan aanvaar vir groepprosesse.

After completing this module, students should be able to

  • have integrated knowledge and an understanding in terms of creating a learning environment that enhances teaching and learning in Mathematics, lesson presentation, assessment, development of problem-solving skills, presentations to large groups, and collaborating small groups; demonstrate knowledge regarding the promotion of independent study in Mathematics, including the ability to apply the specific concepts in practice; and understand how this knowledge is related to other aspects of the methodology of Mathematics teaching;
  • have the ability to select a variety of investigative methods, evaluate their suitability, and apply them in the investigation of the concepts and principles that are handled in this module; and solve relevant problems that will lead to improvements in teaching;
  • have the ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, and critically reflect on complex problems; and address these problems by applying appropriate methods and/or theory-based and educational arguments as an individual or as part of a group;
  • master skills regarding the collection, processing, and management of relevant information for this module, including the ability to corroborate these information sources, analyse, evaluate, synthesise the information, and apply the results in a given context;
  • have the ability to communicate assignments' results or information searches and proposed solutions for real-life problems; and draw conclusions and be able to state their own opinions in well-formulated arguments, taking into account the conventions of intellectual property, copyright, and plagiarism; and
  • have the mindset and ability to take full responsibility for own learning needs, the progress of own learning, decision-making, and the implementation of relevant learning strategies and resources to achieve this module's outcomes; and accept a similar responsibility for group processes.
