Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente

• die vermoë hê om gedetailleerde kennis van die konsep “skoolgereedheid” te bemeester en toe te pas in die konteks van ‘n graad R-klaskamer;
• toegang tot, prosessering en bestuur van inligting hê in verband met kriteria vir skoolgereedheid en oor die vermoë beskik om relevante inligting uit ‘n verskeidenheid bronne te analiseer en sinvol te evalueer;
• probleemoplossing demonstreer deur sosio-ekonomiese faktore wat die ontwikkeling van die graad R-leerder kan benadeel te identifiseer, te analiseer en oplossings voor te stel wat in die praktyk toegepas kan word; en
• begrip toon van die verhouding tussen stelsels en hoe een stelsel ‘n invloed op ander stelsels uitoefen en, op grond van sodanige begrip, die vermoë demonstreer om besluite te neem en toepaslik op te tree in kontekste waar ondersteuning aan ouers van graad R-leerders en ander belanghebbendes nodig is.

After completing this module, students should be able to

• have the ability to master and apply detailed knowledge of "school readiness" as a concept in the context of a grade R classroom;
• have access to and show the ability to process and manage information regarding criteria for school readiness and have the ability to analyse and evaluate relevant information from various resources meaningfully;
• demonstrate problem-solving skills by identifying and analysing socio-economic factors influencing the development of the grade R learner and proposing practically applicable solutions; and
• show understanding of the relationship between systems and how one system may influence the next and, based on this understanding, demonstrate the ability to make decisions and act appropriately where support to parents of grade R learners and other interested parties are needed.
