After completing this module, students should be able to

• interpret/deduce various circumstances regarding the text’s nature and also show the necessary sensitivity for that;
• develop and integrate their own opinions regarding the text, its character and the variety of backgrounds linked to the specific text;
• apply and exhibit the use of analytical skills essential to the perceptive reading of all genres studied in this module;
• demonstrate an understanding of literature’s importance and text in general as an integral part of any language curriculum; and
• show an appreciation for a variety of texts for either academic reading or reading for enjoyment.
