Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente
- hul begrip van Engelse grammatika en toepaslike terme, konsepte, feite, algemene beginsels en reëls akkuraat in Engels as huistaal of eerste addisionele taal binne die Suid-Afrikaanse onderrigkonteks kan toepas;
- doelbewus onderrigstrategieë in Engels Huistaal en en Engels Addisionele Taal kan toepas om verskillende vlakke van taalvaardigheid in die klas te akkommodeer, insluitend die differensiasie van letterkunde-onderrig op uiteenlopende vaardigheidsvlakke;
- die verskillende onderrigbenaderings kan eien en toepas soos dit op die vier taalvaardighede (luister en praat, lees en kyk, skryf en aanbied, en taalstrukture en konvensies) betrekking het soos wat die kurrikulum- en assesseringsbeleidsverklaring (KABV) dit voorskryf; en
- oor ‘n deeglike begrip beskik van die assesseringsriglyne vir Engels as Huistaal en Engels Eerste Addisionele Taal, soos dit op elkeen van die vier taalvaardighede in die KABV-raamwerk van toepassing is.

After completing this module, students will be able to
- accurately apply their understanding of English grammar and relevant terms, concepts, facts, general principles and rules in English as a home language or first additional language within the South African teaching context;
- purposefully apply teaching strategies in English Home Language and English Additional Language to accommodate different levels of language proficiency in the classroom, including the differentiation of literature teaching across diverse proficiency levels;
- identify and apply the different teaching approaches as they relate to the four language skills (listening and speaking, reading and viewing, writing and presenting, and language structures and conventions), as prescribed by the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS); and
- demonstrate a thorough understanding of the assessment guidelines for English Home Language and English First Additional Language, as they apply to each of the four language skills within the CAPS framework.
