After completing this module, students should be able to
- classify the knowledge regarding emergent literacy in the Foundation Phase;
- analyse the different methods for teaching a first additional language for grades 1-3;
- analyse concepts of language teaching as presented in the policy document;
- combine the learning outcomes and assessment standards for grades 1-3;
- organise a multilingual classroom in the Foundation Phase; and
- choose suitable texts for teaching a first additional language for grades 1-3.
