After completing this module, students should be able to

• apply knowledge literacy, in respect of which they can demonstrate an understanding of knowledge as contested and show the ability to read a variety of short stories and prose throughout the module;
• have a scope of knowledge, in respect of which they can demonstrate integrated knowledge of the setting, characters, historical background, etc.;
• apply method and procedure, in respect of which they can formulate an opinion regarding the plot, theme, and general message present in the text;
• have a scope of knowledge, in respect of which they can critically discuss character traits, flaws, weaknesses and strengths;
• formulate an opinion about the various characters and justify the opinion about the characters; and
• apply method and procedure, in respect of which they can analyse a variety of texts critically.
