Ná die voltooiing van hierdie module sal studente
- kennis dra van die huidige onderwyssituasie in Suid-Afrika en hoe hulle daarby moet aanpas;
- kennis dra van die Suid-Afrikaanse onderwysgeskiedenis;
- kennis maak met die NKV en die KABV sowel as die implementering daarvan;
- kennis dra van die beleid, wette en regulasies wat van toepassing is op onderwys in die Suid- Afrikaanse konteks en hoe dit verander het;
- insig demonstreer ten opsigte van die verskillende benaderings tot kurrikulumontwikkeling, die nasionale beleidsdokumente en die vereistes wat deur die nasionale beleid aan opvoeders gestel word;
- oor ’n kennisbasis beskik wat nodig is om inligting te vind in relevante wette soos die Suid-Afrikaanse Skolewet en hierdie kennis kan gebruik wanneer dit sou nodig wees;
- in staat wees om hierdie kennis as kurrikulum in die praktyk toe te pas; en
- besef dat die onderwys ‘n professie is en verstaan watter betekenis die onderwys daaraan heg.
(Hierdie module vorm ʼn belangrike deel van die grondslag vir die teoretiese en praktiese inhoud vir die res van die Aros BEd-kwalifikasie.)

After completing this module, students should be able to
- have knowledge of the present education situation in South Africa and how they should adapt to this situation;
- have knowledge of the history of education in South Africa;
- become acquainted with the NCS and the CAPS as well as the implementation thereof;
- have knowledge of the policy, laws, and regulations applicable to education in the South African context and how it changes;
- demonstrate insight into the various approaches to curriculum development, the national policy documents, and the requirements set by the government to educators;
- have a knowledge base that is needed to find information in relevant laws such as the South African Schools Act and to be able to use this knowledge when needed;
- apply this knowledge as curriculum in practice; and
- realise that education is a profession and understand the meaning the teacher attaches to it.
(This module forms an integral part of the theoretical and practical content’s foundation for the rest of the Aros BEd qualification.)
