After completing this module, students should be able to
- recognise and discover the various roles of the English FAL educator paying particular attention to the essence of good administration as well as effective time management;
- compare and evaluate the differences in lesson plans used in the different Intermediate Phase grades;
- create and develop strategies to plan activities to teach different aspects of an additional language;
- identify and differentiate methods of integrating the teaching of an additional language naturally and enjoyably to cater for a variety of learners and circumstances;
- facilitate a lesson based on the four essential skills by incorporating the methods suggested; and
- categorise and distinguish between the effective assessment tools, including ICTs and taxonomies, used in the different grades of the Intermediate Phase.
